Meetings set on MU strip trial results
02/06/2019

Results from the 2018 Missouri Strip Trial Program will be shared at a Feb. 21 meeting in Bethany.

University of Missouri Extension plant pathologist Kaitlyn Bissonnette also discusses soybean cyst nematode management in a workshop on the same day.

The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the BTC Bank meeting room, 3606 Miller Street, Bethany.

The SCN workshop will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Contact Andy Luke at 660-425-6434 for more information or to register. The program is free, but registration is suggested for lunch.

In 2018, 48 trials were conducted in 24 Missouri counties, says MU Extension nutrient management specialist John Lory. Trials included nitrogen response, cover crop comparisons, cover crop termination date, phosphorous, ILeVO seed treatment for soybean and fungicide.

The grower-focused program helps Missouri farmers and crop advisors compare on-farm management decisions and practices in a low-cost, low-risk setting. MU conducted 150 trials during the past three years.

MU Extension, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council and Missouri Corn Merchandising Council fund the strip trial program. The SCN workshops are part of the SCN Coalition effort supported by the United Soybean Board.
