Three Atchison Men Injured in Amelia Bridge Accident

Three Atchison men are recovering following a single vehicle injury accident Saturday night on the Amelia Earhart Bridge.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 11:30 when a 2007 Nissan Titan driven by 24 year old Andrew Kuhn was westbound on the bridge on U-S highway 59.

Kuhn lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and struck the south bridge rail and overturned, coming to rest blocking both lanes of 59 facing north.

Kuhn was transported to Atchison Hosptial with moderate injuries as well as 26 year old Brandon Cummings with minor injuries.

A third passenger, 25 year old Mikey Stephenson was transported by Lifenet helicopter to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joesph with serious injuries.

The patrol says Kuhn and Cumming s were wearing seatbelts, but it’s unknown whether Stephenson was wearing a seatbelt.
