Atchison fire crews and MGP Ingredients are monitoring an ongoing grain smoldering issue in one of their bins.
Atchison fire Chief Mike McDermed explains the call they responded to Saturday evening just before six.
McDermed MGP RT: :44 OC: "…that way."
Crews were on the scene for 35 minutes to an hour before it was contained.
Firefighters were called back to the scene at 2:26 the next morning for further assistance.
Chief McDermed says with any grain bin fire issues, crews need to be prepared at any time.
McDermed Return RT: :36 OC: "…the problem."
The chief says crews plan to return to the site today and in the future as necessary.
