Handicapped citizens will have an easier accessible elevator in the future at the Atchison County courthouse.
County commissioners are awaiting approval from the state historical society on an American disabilities act elevator to be installed on the basement, first and second levels of the building.
They viewed the final outline from River Bluff architects during their regular meeting Wednesday.
County Commissioner Jeff Schuele says it will be a large reconfiguration.
Schuele Elevator RT: :17 OC: “…third floor.”
Funding for the elevator is being matched up to 50 percent by the Heritage Charitable Trust.
Schuele says the project is on time and hopes installation will begin in March.
