California Man Sentenced to Prison for Marijuana

 A 22 year old Sonoma, California man will see prison time for felony marijuana possession with intent to sell.

 Parke Montgomery was sentenced to 15 months in prison today in Atchison County District Court.

 He was arrested October 14th by Atchison Police following a traffic stop where officers discovered 15 pounds of high-grade marijuana in the trunk of his vehicle after a search.

 The marijuana, known as “fluff,” has an estimated value of 15 thousand dollars.

 After the discovery, factual basis statements she Montgomery saying he was delivering the drugs from California to Leavenworth.

 During sentencing recommendations County Attorney Gerald Kucklemann said Montgomery was “the epitomy of a drug dealer.”

 Montgomery’s attorney, William McQuillan said Parke was “not a drug dealer, a well educated student with three years of college, and made a horrible mistake.”

 During sentencing, County Judge Martin Asher asked how much Montgomery was paid for the deal, and Montgomery said five thousand dollars.

 Montgomery will have two years of probation following his release from prison.

 This is his first criminal conviction.
