Plenty of action in the Big 12 last night in the women's side of the side with the Kansas State Wildcat, Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers all in action. Below is a recap of each game for the local area schools:
Kansas State Wildcats:
It was a tough task for the lady Wildcats as they travel to College Station to take on the defending national champs Texas A&M lady Aggies. Ranked fifthteenth in the country the Aggies controlled things from the jump as the Aggies took a 20-point lead into the half and then ultilized a run to start the second half to increase their lead even more.
Kesley Bone and Karla Gilbert paced the way for the Aggies with 14 points each; while Brittany Chambers had 11 points to lead the Wildcats and was the only lady Wildcat in double figures. With the loss Kansas State fell to 15-8 on the season and 6-5 in conference play. Texas A&M improved to 17-5 and 8-3 in the Big 12.
Kansas Jayhawks:
Guard, Angel Goodrich set an assist record for the most assists in one game at AllenFieldhouse with 16 assists, in a game were the lady Jayhawks cruised to an 85-61 victory over Texas. Goodrich finished the evening with and doubl-double16 points and those record setting 16 assists; while Jayhawk forward, Aishah Sutherland recorded her 6th double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Guard, Cassidy Fussell lead the Longhorns with 22 points in the loss.
KU improved to 17-6 with the win and 6-5 in the conference; while Texas fell to 13-10 and 3-8 in the conference.
Missouri Tigers:
The lady Tigers of Missouri remain winless in Big 12 play with a loss to Iowa State last night, 65-52. Freshman, Kyley Simmons netted a career high 14 points in the loss for the Tigers; while Breanna Brocka and Morgan Eye each added double figures, also, with 14 and 10 point, respectively. The lady Cyclones were led by Lauren Mansfield and her season-high 21 points as she hit 5-8 three-pointers.
MIssouri with the loss fell to 10-12 on the season and 0-11 in the Big 12; while Iowa State is now 14-8 overall and 5-6 in the conference.
