Richardson County Commissioners voted to donate a 2002 mini-van which had been used by Southeast Nebraska Community Action since purchased in 2002 to the Richardson County Transit.
In other business Commissioners approved a number of resolutions concerning bridge projects. Included is a program agreement with the Nebraska Department of Roads for the Verdon Northwest Project known as the Jorn Bridge and the Stella Southeast Project known as the Tynon Bridge.
Commissioners conducted the quarterly safety committee meeting Tuesday. Road Department representative Matt Cromer reported the NIRMA inspections in September indicated a need for the fuel containment areas at the County Shops need to be improved, and said there was an ongoing problem with employees of the department not keeping vehicles clean. Also noted was a need to keep the shop areas tobacco free.
Sheriff Randy Houser reported taser gun training is being conducted this week and that bunks will be removed from the walls in the 2-man cell for safety reasons. The Sheriff also noted radio reception is still a concern, especially for car-to-car reception.
Al Povondra with Carlson West Povondra Architects met with Commissioners to review future plans for the Armory Building on the west edge of Falls City. Provondra presented previous plans designed by his firm. Sheriff Houser and County Attorney Bob Meyer were also present for the presentation.
