Lady Ravens defeat MNU, Men drop Thriller
02/12/2012

Saturday afternoon the Benedictine Ravens traveled to Olathe and were hosted by conference leaders MidAmerica.

In the first game, the Lady Ravens took a 9 point lead into the lockerroom at halftime only to see that lead disappear midway through the second half.  Solid play in the paint late in the game and 12 points from Teresa Zienkewicz (Sr., Wichita) earned Benedictine a 52-48 victory.  In their battle to win a home-berth in the HAAC post-season tournament, Benedictine showed determination against the conference leaders and took a big step toward that goal.

The Ravens held a lead until 1:15 to play, but the Pioneers scored 11 unanswered points in the final 2:40 to steal a win 68-63.  A game-ending injury to guard Chris McFaul in the first minute of the game added to cold perimeter shooting which plagued BC all afternoon as they missed on their first 11 3 point shots.  Three Ravens shared scoring honors with 13 points each.

Benedictine will be at home next in a rare Monday night game.  Missouri Valley will travel to the Nolan Gym with tipoffs at 5:30 and 7:30.  Enjoy live coverage of the games on KAIR 93.7.
