Officially on the job since June First of last year,  Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse decides to seek election to the position.
He became sheriff after being selected by a committee from a pool of four candidates from both the Democratic and Republican parties.

Morse, since June, has worked to fulfill goals he set stepping into the position, including the successful implementation of satellite offices, in Jackson County, in the battle against crime(Play Audio :28 seconds)
Among his added duties, since the time of his appointment, Morse has taken on the oversight of the Jackson County jail, making staff cuts that, while unpopular, were found necessary due to finances and budgetary concerns.
He says maintaining the budget remains at the top of his priorities(Play Audio :36 seconds)
Morse, and his wife, Melissa, are longtime residents of Jackson County, having raised three children on their small farm near Holton.
Morse is, so far, the only candidate to file for the position.
The filing deadline is noon, June 1st.
