Kansas Governor Sam Brownback announced the appointment of Atchison native Barbara Hickert as the Kansas Long Term Care Ombudsman.
The Long Term Care Ombudsman advocates for the well-being, safety, and rights of residents of Kansas long-term care facilities and assists them in attaining the highest possible quality of life.
Hickert is currently employed by Life Care Services, LLC as the Administrator of Dooley Center at Mount St. Scholastica, a 46-bed long-term care home.
Hickert has been administrator of Life Care Services since 1997.
She was a member of the Kansas State Board of Nursing from 2001 to 2007, currently serves on the board of Leading Age Kansas, and is a member of the Kansas Adult Care Executives.
