USD 115 Board Votes To Close St. Benedict School
03/12/2012

The Nemaha Central USD 115 board of education Monday evening adopted a resolution to close the St. Benedict Elementary School at the end of the current school year.

The action was the last step in the process started several months ago.

A hearing was held on the proposal last month, drawing no comment from patrons.

With the closing of the school, all kindergarten through fifth grade students will be housed at the Nemaha Valley Elementary School in Seneca.

Following discussion, the board approved the purchase of eight school busses in order for the district to operate it’s own bus transportation.

Superintendent Darrel Kohlman said the board still has the option to use a contracted service on the management side.

Currently, the district has contracts with three contractors who served the prior USD 442 and USD 451 districts.
