Peru State College Jazz Festival Wednesday

 Peru State College will host its 39th annual Jazz Festival this Wednesday in the College Theatre.
 Competition for Classes A, B, and C begins at 8:30 a.m. and competition for Class 2-A schools begins at 12:30 p.m.  The Peru State College Hoyt Street Jazz Ensemble will perform at 11:30 a.m. and again at 4:30 p.m.  Awards ceremonies will be held at noon for classes A, B, and C, and at 5:00 p.m. for Class 2-A.
 A few area schools will participate in the competition.  The Auburn Jazz Band, under the direction of Trenton Stump, is among the Class A and B schools.
 Class C schools include Johnson County Central, Elmwood-Murdock, and Tri-County High Schools.
 The judge for this year’s competition is Ansyn Banks, who directs the University of Louisville’s jazz combo program.  Banks has performed with Aretha Franklin, The Four Tops, The Temptations, and many other jazz and R-and-B artists.
 The Jazz Festival is free and open to the public.
