Billy "Bill" Dale Shufflebarger, 82, of Horton, Kansas, passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Bill was born on May 24, 1929 in Atchison, Kansas the son of Harry and Katherine Myer Shufflebarger. Bill was raised in the Lancaster area and graduated from A.C.C.H.S. in Effingham, Kansas. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Through out the years Bill was a farmer, worked for the John Deere dealership in Horton, Paige Air Ways in Atchison, a salesman for Moorman's Feed Company and an insurance salesman. He was a member of the Horton United Methodist Church, American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the Lancaster Odd Fellows Lodge. On December 31, 1953 he married Retha Skiles in Anchorage, Alaska. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son, Steven (Gaynell) Shufflebarger of Syracuse, Nebraska; two daughters, Aurelie (Ron) Sanders of Topeka, Kansas and Brenda (Kevan) Flaming of Huxley, Iowa, four grandchildren, Amy (Lanny) Campbell, Philip (Paula) Sanders, Billie Flaming and Garth Flaming; two step grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren and twin great granddaughters. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Francis and Eugene Shufflebarger. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Horton, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial with Military graveside rites will be at the Lancaster Cemetery.
