Emmett K. Oswalt, 85, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the Atchison Hospital in Atchison, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, August 19th at 10:30 A.M. at First Christian Church, with Russell Cooper, officiating. Interment will follow in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.  Visitation with the family will be Monday, August 18th from 7:00-8:30 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. He was born September 19, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Arthur K. and Opal Johnson Oswalt. He attended school in Potter, Kansas.

Emmett and Mary Patricia “Tish” McKee were united in marriage on November 21, 1953 at Holy Name Church, Topeka, Kansas. Mrs. Oswalt preceded him in death on April 17, 2012.

He was employed with Local Bricklayers Union #18 as a Bricklayer and stonemason for 45 years. He began his stonemason career helping to build the beautiful stone buildings on the campus of Kansas State University.

Emmett served in the United States Army Air Corp. from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1949. Having served during the Korean Conflict.

He enjoyed scouting, serving as a Scout Master for Troop #53.

He is survived by four daughters, Diane (Mike) Perkins, Atchison, KS, Patty (Jim) Blevins, Highland, KS, Marcia (Steve) Collins, Leavenworth, KS, Amy (Mark) Peters, Leavenworth, KS, seven sons, Michael Oswalt, Atchison, KS, David Oswalt, Leavenworth, KS, Kelly (Beth) Oswalt, St. Joseph, MO, Jerome Oswalt, Dearborn, MO, Owen Oswalt, Atchison, KS, Brian (Amy) Oswalt, Atchison, KS, Chris (Shelley) Oswalt, Platte City, MO,  thirty six grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Alice Robb.
