 Edith Elizabeth Schumann, 96, of Netawka, KS passed away August 18, 2014 at Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha. She was born May 9, 1918 in Netawaka the daughter of Thomas and Maude (Woods) Ingels.

Edith graduated from Netawaka High School in 1937. She worked for Netawaka School District #335. Edith was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Netawaka and a member of the Wetmore American Legion Auxiliary.

She married Walter C. “Salty” Schumann on April 17, 1940 in Netawaka. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Leone Armstrong; 2 brothers, Frank and Clarence Ingels; 4 granddaughters, Gina Brandt, Jennifer Schumann, Jackie Williams and Lisa Chapman; a grandson, Heath Williams and a great-great grandson, Cameron Chapman.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Bev Beam (Larry) of Topeka, Jan Brandt (Les) of Holton, Judy Stephens (Brad) of Holton; 3 sons, Larry Schumann (Nancy) of Netawaka, Ronald Schumann (Karen) of Netawaka and Jim Schumann (Pam) of Netawaka; a brother, Marvin Ingels (Melvena) of Netawaka; 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Pastor Jeffrey Geske will officiate. Interment will follow in the Netawaka Cemetery.
