Margaret Hazel Stadel, 97, Meriden, formerly of Valley Falls, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at the Kelly House of Meriden care facility at Meriden.

She was born May 6, 1917, in Kennesaw, NE, the daughter of Cyrus Edward and Dollie Pitts Callison. Hazel graduated from Hoyt High School in 1934. She married Harold Bibler. They had two children, James Clarke Bibler, and Patricia Jo Bibler Moore.  They were divorced in 1941.

She worked for several companies before going to work for Campbell 66 Trucking Company, Kansas City, MO, where she worked for 26 years.

In 1951, Hazel married Thomas Madole. He died in 1977. She then moved to Winchester to be closer to her mother who lived in Oskaloosa. She met and then married Duane Stadel in 1978. Duane died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Bausch.

Hazel moved to Valley Falls in 1996 and lived there until she moved into a nursing home. She had attended Second Presbyterian Church in Topeka.

She is survived by a son, James Clarke Bibler, Topeka; a daughter, Pat Moore, Bloomington, MN; a brother, Marion Callison, Holton; a sister, Della Callison, Valley Falls; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
