John Joseph Enzbrenner, 76, Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 10:30 A.M at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Gabriel Landis, O.S.B. as celebrant. The body will be cremated following these services. Inurnment of the ashes will be at a later date at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.  A parish rosary will be recited Monday, December 29, 2014 at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 8:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to St. Benedict Parish or American Legion Post #6.  Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.

John was born September 26, 1938 in Huron, Kansas the son of John Joseph and Elizabeth Gormly Enzbrenner.  He attended and graduated from Maur Hill Prep School in Atchison, Kansas.
He and Elizabeth Eccles were united in marriage on February 13, 1960 in Vista, California.  They were later divorced.

John served with the United States Marine Corp for twenty one years.  He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, also served on Okinawa, Guantanamo Bay, North Carolina and California.  At his discharge he was serving as a gunnery sergeant.

He worked in law enforcement for most of his employment years in Montgomery County, Kansas and Osage County, Oklahoma where he served as Captain for the sheriff department and Police Chief of Shidler, Oklahoma.
John was a member of St. Benedict Parish attending Sacred Heart Church. He was also a member and served on the board of Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion and V.F.W Post # 1175.

Survivors include two sons, John J. (Anna) Enzbrenner, Jr. Ft. Garland, CO, Tom Enzbrenner, Atchison, KS, four daughters, Katherine (Todd Berry) Schultz, Effingham, KS, JoAnn Enzbrenner, Huron, KS, Tammy (Timothy) Beymer, Clarksville, TN, Kelli (Christopher) Patterson, St. Joseph, MO, three brothers, Francis Enzbrenner, Owasso, OK, Joe Blasi, Atchison, KS, Kenneth Blasi, Atchison, KS, two sisters, Dorothy Pickman, Atchison, KS, Mary Grace Kokias, Littleton, CO, twenty six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Sgt. David Enzbrenner and a brother, Harold Lee Enzbrenner.
