Charlene Minner Squires, 95, of Onaga, previously of Holton, passed away December 31, 2014 at Deseret Healthcare in Onaga.

She was born November 28, 1919 in Soldier, the daughter of Charlie and Myrtle (Bailey) Minner. 

Charlene graduated from Soldier High School and later attended Central Business College in Kansas City.  She worked as a bookkeeper in the County Engineers Office at the Jackson County Courthouse and later for the State of Kansas (Fiscal Management). She attended Lakeview Faith Pentecostal Church in Holton. Charlene also volunteered as a foster grandparent at Headstart in Holton. On June 6, 1948 Charlene married Merwin Clair Squires. He preceded her in death on August 20, 1995.

She is survived by: her daughters, Linda G. South (John) of Topeka, KS and Lois C. Boyd (John) of Circleville, KS; her five grandchildren, Isaac, Heather, Derek, Matthew and Benjamin and her 4 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her brother, Francis Minner.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Holton Cemetery.  The family will greet friends 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to Lakeview Faith Church and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
