Lou Ida Flory, 91 years old, of Nortonville KS died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at the Village Vila Nursing Home, Nortonville, KS.
 
Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Saturday, Jan. 17th, 2015 at the Nortonville Christian Church with Pastor Bob Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Effingham, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, Jan. 16th, 2015 at the Nortonville Christian Church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nortonville Christian Church and may be sent in care of the O’Trimble Funeral home who is handling the arrangements. Lou Ida was born on Sept. 2, 1923 on a farm near Effingham, KS the daughter of Emmett R. and Mamie (Freeland) White. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1941, and attended Kansas State University for two years.   Mrs. Flory taught school at Prairie View rural school before she was married. She was married to Clarence R. Flory on Sept. 2, 1945 at her parent’s home in Effingham, KS.  Since then she has been a housewife and homemaker taking care of the children and grandchildren.  Mrs. Flory was a member of the Nortonville Christian Church, the Ladies Aide and taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Flory was a 4-H Leader teaching crocheting and knitting and enjoyed sewing, playing Yahtzee, and cooking which the family says she was good at. She and Clarence also enjoyed traveling and have visited all 50 states in the US and made a trip to Italy.
 
Survivors include her husband of sixty-nine years, Clarence R. Flory, Nortonville, a daughter; Ethel (Paul) Dunlap, Effingham, KS, four sons; Robert L. (Leota) Flory, Atchison, KS. , Samuel K. Flory, Effingham, KS., Thomas A. (Jeannine) Flory, Nortonville, KS., and Daniel J.(Linda) Flory, Joplin, MO, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild.  Her parents, daughter in law, Karen Flory, a brother; Ira M White, and a sister Evelyn M. Hank preceded her in death.
