Thomas A. “Tom” Broxterman, 70, Meriden, died Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home in rural Meriden.

He was born April 19, 1944 at Axtell, the son of Andrew William “Andy” and Helena Brendine “Lena” Buessing Broxterman.  He was a 1962 graduate of Baileyville B&B High School. He served in the U.S Army Reserves from 1962 to 1970. He worked for a road construction company, helping to build K-4 hwy. He then worked for the Allis Chalmers Company in Topeka, serving as a mechanic, welder and supervisor over 23 years before he retiring on March 23, 1988. He owned and operated the Conoco Station at Ozawkie before working for the Midwest Machine works in Topeka. He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Meriden and a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 7246, Meriden and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus #534 and the American Legion Post #400, both in Topeka. He was married to Artis Ann Fenton on April 29, 1967 at Seneca, she survives at the home. He is also survived by two sons, Timothy (Lisa) Broxterman, Meriden, Terry (Angela) Broxterman, Meriden, six brothers, Bob Broxterman, Rossville, Charlie Broxterman, Frankfurt, Ralph Broxterman, Vermillion, Bill Broxterman, Vermillion, Dick Broxterman, Sabetha, Pat Broxterman, Baileyville, four sisters, Elsie Becker, Topeka, Kay Mitchell, Frankfurt, Sister Anna Marie Broxterman, Concordia, Mary Holthaus, Centrailia, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard “Bud” Broxterman and one sister, Sally Scott.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 3, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Meriden. Burial will be at the St. Aloysius Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday at the Church where Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, with a Knights of Columbus Chalice Service following.
