Sharon Mauslein
Hiawatha , KS

Sharon was born January 8, 1941, at Holton, KS, the daughter of Louis (L.W.) and Thelma Covert Schnackel and was a lifelong resident of Hiawatha. Sharon attended schools here, later graduating from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1959. She never met a stranger, was always generous and sharing with others. She was so full of life, not about herself, always thinking and doing for others. In later years, Sharon was an avid walker, known for her bright pink coat, walking around town picking up aluminum cans as she walked.

Sharon was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hiawatha. Her faith was quiet, but present. Sharon was a member of the Hiawatha Alumni Association and was active with both arranging and attending class reunions. One of the things she did not enjoy doing was cooking—but would do so when she had too! Sharon enjoyed playing tennis and coaching softball. She enjoyed volunteer work by doing such things as delivering meals on wheels and assisting with funeral lunches. Being called an avid KU fan is an understatement!

She married the love of her life Dana "Herb" Mauslein, December 28, 1961, at Hiawatha. He survives.

Also surviving are their children: Biff (Barb) Mauslein of Hiawatha, Tori (Jimi) Hendricks of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Jacob (Stephanie) Mauslein of Manhattan, and Dane Mauslein of Norton, KS. Also surviving are a sister Debbie (Terry) Reschke of Hiawatha; three brothers: Don (Carolyn) Griffith of Mt. Juliet, TN, Ron (Barb) Griffith of Ozawakie, KS, Roger (Judy) Griffith of North Canton, OH; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.

It was her wish to be cremated with no services planned at this time.

A register book will be available to sign at the funeral home.

There will be an informal gathering of family and friends Saturday, April 14th at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Hiawatha.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha, KS 66434, who is in charge of arrangements.

A special message may be sent to the family at www.chapeloaksfuneralhome.com
