 Maxine “Mick” T. Story, 92, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 8, 2015 at Falls City. She was born November 1, 1922 at Reserve, KS to the late Roy and Emma (Jackson) Chesnut.

On December 7, 1941 she married Wilbur Mellage at Falls City. He passed away on May 8, 1976. She then married Howard Story on October 28, 1989. He passed away November 29, 1989.

Mick was raised in the Reserve area and graduated Reserve High School in 1940. When married the couple established their home in Reserve and moved into Falls City in 1976 and she has lived here since. She was employed at the Falls City Police Department as a dispatcher from 1977 until 1987 when she retired. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th and Towle St.), the Thursday Morning Coffee Group of her church, charter member of BPOE Does, VFW Auxiliary all of Falls City.

Mick is survived her sons, Marvin Mellage and his wife Linda of Broken Arrow, OK, Dennis Mellage and his wife Judy of Falls City daughters, Jane Thomas and Judy Crouse and her significant other, Clyde Schroeder both of Nebraska City, nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, Lester, Robert, Avery and Homer Chesnut, sister, Laurene Grush and a son-in-law, Sam Thomas.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church (20th and Towle) with Reverend Andrew Chavanak officiating. Interment will be in Steele Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:30-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
