Lowell was a WWII Veteran serving his country in the US Army. Lowell was a Principal in Kansas and a teacher in Ohio, and later employed by Aurgroup Credit Union. He was a member of Masonic Grand Lodge A.F.&A.M. of Kansas, Kansas York Right, Shriner’s International and President of the Fairfield Lion’s Club.

Lowell married Shirley K. Brown on June 20, 1964 in Whiting, KS. She survives. He is also survived by his sons, Stephen A. (Diana) Hines, Terry A. (Melissa) Martin; his daughter, Tracey A. Martin; a brother, Allan (Jo) Dietrich; grandchildren, Bryan Hines, Barry (Amanda) Hines, Aidan Martin, Makenna Martin; and great grandson, Henry A. Hines. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Martin.

Graveside memorial services will be at Noon Friday April 20, 2012 at Springhill Cemetery in Whiting. The family will gather at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton at 11:00 a.m. and go in procession to the cemetery.
