Mary A. Irwin, 95, Valley Falls, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at her home.

She was born Oct. 30, 1919, at Everest, the daughter of Thomas E and Nettie M. Blacketer Mawdsley.

Mary was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She was a member of the Valley Falls United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Blue Mound Sunshine Club.

She married Earl L. Irwin, August 31, 1941, at her parent’s home in Everest. She was preceded in death by three brothers, George, John and William Mawdsley; and three sisters, Thelma Dodge, Elsie Sharp and Ethel Pyetzki.

Mary is survived by her husband, Earl, of 73 years of marriage; her daughter, JoAnn (Ray, Jr.) Remp, Topeka; two granddaughters, Kimberly Remp, Fayetteville, Ark., and Melanie Remp, Overland Park.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.
