Mildred Latza

 Mildred Latza, aged 89 years, died of complications from Alzheimer’s disease on March 21, 2015.  She resided in Pawnee City, Nebraska almost continuously until 2005, when she entered the Falls City Healthcare Community in Falls City, Nebraska.

Born to Bohman and Anna Daniel on February 5, 1926, she was reared on the family farm north of DuBois, Nebraska.  She graduated from Pawnee City High School in 1944, and was wed to Albert Latza on April 16, 1950.  After the couple resided briefly in Albert’s home town of Letcher, South Dakota, Albert was drafted into the Army and the couple moved to Ft. Knox, Kentucky.  In 1954, the couple settled in Pawnee City, and their son Bill was born in 1955.

Mildred was a hard working and accomplished homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, and she was an especially skilled cook and seamstress.  In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother, she was actively involved in school groups, and was a long-time and honored member of the Nebraska Blacksmiths, Welders and Machinists Association auxiliary.  Mildred loved travel, and visited twenty-seven states.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother George.  She is survived by her son.

Funeral services 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Reverend Duane Westing  will be officiating.  Visitation on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, NE.  Interment at the Du Bois Cemetery, Du Bois, Nebraska.  Memorials to Alzheimer Association , 225 N.
