Louise Virginia Shockey, 91, of Atchison, KS passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Atchison Hospital, Atchison, KS.

Graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 27, 2015 at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Atchison, KS, with Rev. Robert Ziegler officiating.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, KS.  Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Buildings & Grounds Fund or Trinity Lutheran School Grant Fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Words of comfort for the family may be sent to www.beckerdyer.com.

Louise was born June 17, 1923 in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Roy A. and Gertrude E. (McBride) Kuhnert.  She attended public schools in Doniphan, KS and Rushville, MO.  Louise grew up on the family farm; she was her Dads helper in the fields and her Mothers helper in the home.  She worked at Wilson Poultry Company, before her marriage to Lewis W. Shockey on October 28, 1945 at St. Andrews Chapel, Atchison, KS.  They were blessed with one son L.W. “Sonny” Jr.  After Sonny started school, she went to work at Horton Garment Factory until Sonny graduated from college.  Louise then went to college and became a beautician, she owned and operated Louise’s Beauty Shop until she retired.  Louise was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Louise is survived by three grandchildren, Cassie (Elena) Shockey Holguin, Dallas, TX, Angie Shockey Fish, Seattle, WA and Lewis (Andrea) Shockey III, Wichita, KS, three great grandchildren,  Zoey Fish, Seattle, WA, Wesley Shockey and Elizabeth Shockey, Wichita, KS, five God children, Connie McBride Smith, Kansas City, MO, Cathy Kuhnert Higley, Cummings, KS, Jeff Kuhnert, Rushville, MO, Robyn Kuhnert Wagner, Cummings, KS, Wayne Kuhnert, Bendena, KS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Lewis W. Sr. and son Lewis W. Jr., three brothers; Baby Brother, Roy Jr. and Elmer Kuhnert, two sisters; Ethel Kuhnert and Emma Jean Bramble.
