Ramona Wahwassuck
Dishon- Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton

Ramona "Omie" Jean Wahwassuck, 90, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

She was born on March 21, 1929 on the Kickapoo Reservation, the daughter of Frank and Mary Allen Wahwassuck. Ramona worked as a nurse's aide for the Brown County Infirmary, Tri-County Manor, Maple Heights Nursing Center and was a home health care taker in the surrounding areas. She was a member of the Kennekuk Church, Kickapoo Tribe and the VFW Auxiliary. Omie was a very kind, sweet and loving woman who would help anyone in need. She enjoyed watching her football and basketball games on T.V. and spending time cruising around with her best friend, Maxine Hinkle.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Francis "Big Man" Wahwasuck, Wilson "Woody" Wahwassuck and Frank "Bunny" Wahwassuck, seven sisters, Verda Harris, Cora Cupps, Evelyn Negonsott, Lenora Winsea, Elizabeth Wahwassuck, Josephine Smith and Gerri Clift.

Kennekuk Church services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Kickapoo Community Building. Burial will be at 8:00 A.M. on Thursday morning at the Kennekuk Cemetery on the Kickapoo Reservation. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
