Eva Virginia (DeGroff) Bowser, 81, of Emmett, KS, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Tanglewood Health and Rehab in Topeka. She was born March 3, 1938 Onaga, KS the daughter of Willie and Ella Leona DeGroff.

Eva attended Onaga High School and she later attended Highland Junior College where she received a degree in Accounting. After graduation, she worked for the State of Kansas. Working 8 years in the workers compensation division and 17 years in the Department of Human Resources. She retired in 2000.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Bible Baptist Church.

She married Robert Bowser on October 23, 1954 in Onaga, KS. They celebrated over 60 years of marriage.

Survivors include a son, Mark Bowser (Denise) of Emmett, KS; sister-in-law, Carol Sook of Tecumseh, KS; aunt, Rachel Thompson of Nebraska City, NE; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob; 2 sons, Robert and Wayne Bowser; and a brother, Don DeGroff.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Soldier Cemetery in Soldier, KS. Family will greet friends 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Memorials may be given to the Topeka Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 270, Holton, KS 66436.
