Matthew Shawn Asher, 60, of Holton, KS, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born September 1, 1960 in Topeka, KS, the son of Jack Asher and Marlene Joyce (Iott) Asher-Shove.

Matt graduated from Meriden High School in 1978 and later earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Matt worked as a nurse, teacher and pastor.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton and enjoyed repairing and selling Grandfather Clocks.

Survivors include his brother, Mark Asher of Boardman, OH; 2 nieces, Courtney and Devon Asher and a nephew, Andrew Asher.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Asher; his mother, Marlene Shove on November 25, 2020 and his step-father, Richard Shove in 2017.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery; along with a Graveside Service for his mother, Marlene. Matt will lie in state at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton beginning Sunday through Monday until 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church.
