Lammert Christopher DeJonge, 99, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on April 15, 1922, in Ostfriesland, Germany to Eibo and Elise (Schmidt) DeJonge.  As a young boy, Lammert’s family moved from Germany to a farm near Hildreth, Nebraska where he attended country school.  In 1936, his family moved to rural Humboldt where Lammert worked for neighbors and other farmers.  On June 15, 1949, Lammert was united in marriage to Emma Lee King at the Chritian Church in Humboldt by Rev. C.W. Long.  The couple lived on a farm northeast of Humboldt after their marriage and then moved to the farm northwest of Humboldt.  They lived at that farm many years before moving to town after they retired.  Lammert and Emma Lee were members of Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt.

Lammert passed away on Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-nine years and twenty-seven days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma Lee, brothers George (Lucille) DeJonge and Ommo (Marilyn) DeJonge, nephews David and Leland DeJonge and sister-in-law Edna DeJonge.

Lammert is survived by his brother Ed DeJonge of Humboldt, NE; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Llewellyn officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Interment will follow services at the Humboldt Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Faith Lutheran Church.
