Millie Bontrager

Mildred “Millie” Ann Bontrager, 86, of Seneca, Kansas passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at the Life Care Center in Seneca, Kansas with her family by her side.

She was born in Baileyville, Kansas on April 29, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Mary Johanna (Runnebaum) Olberding, Sr.

Millie married Herbie Bontrager in Baileyville, Kansas on February 7, 1956.  Millie and Herbie had four children.  Millie is survived by her children, Connie (Jim) Holthaus, Herb (Ling Zhou) Bontrager, Jr., James (Kim) Bontrager, and Terry (Lovey) Bontrager.  She is also survived by six grandchildren, Katie, Kaylee, Randee, Riley, Charlie, and Helinna; three great-grandchildren, Ella, Jaxson, and Charlee; four step grandchildren, Heidi, Brenda, Matt, and Mike; and seven step great-grandchildren. 

Millie also left behind many nieces and nephews who loved and cared for her.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Cyril, Henry, Jr., Leonard, Alvin, and Aloysius.; three sisters, Helen Bevans, Frances Boltz, and Marie Stallbaumer; and the father of her children, Herbie Bontrager.

Millie will be remembered for her direct personality and working very hard at her café, where she harassed and enjoyed her time with her customers.  In her later years, she enjoyed her weekly magazines and newspapers, the casino, bingo, lottery tickets, her grandchildren’s activities, her home at Terrace Heights, and time spent with her family just running around town for errands and car rides.
Mom, we loved you dearly and you will always be in our hearts and always by our side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, Kansas.  A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Popkess Memorial Chapel in Seneca, Kansas.
