George Stephen "Steve" Barton Jr., 73, of Troy, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Steve was born in Horton, Kansas on November 7, 1947 the son of George "Steve" Barton Sr. and Winona "Nonie" Beal Barton. Steve was a 1965 graduate of Horton High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served from 1965 to 1969 during the Vietnam Era. Steve married Carol Craig on November 13, 1970 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church. They later were divorced. The couple had one son, Guy Barton. Steve retired from Saint Joe Light and Power in 2008 after a 24 year career as an electrician. Steve spent his retired years hanging out with his dog, and going on camping trips with his granddaughter, son and daughter-in-law.

Steve is survived by his son, Guy Barton and wife Bobbi, granddaughter, Reese Barton, Step Grandsons Logan and Justin McMurry all of Halstead, Kansas; brother, Charles (Chuck) Barton and wife, Connie of Clearwater, Kansas; two sisters, Lola O'Mahoney of Lubbock, Texas and Eileen Fuhrman and husband, Gary of San Antonio, Texas; along with many nieces and nephews. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and an nephew.
