Evelyn Maxine Kooser, 100, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, after a short stay of two months at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was born on March 23, 1921 in Horton, Kansas, the daughter of Oscar and Essa Jane Bryant Loper. On March 15, 1943, she married Otis K. Kooser in Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death along with a stepson, Kenneth O. Kooser and a great grandson, Braxton.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Sandra Hewitt of Circleville, Kansas, Mrs. Jane (Harry) DeForest of Gardner, Kansas and Mrs. Betty Letterman of Horton, Kansas; two sons, Herbert (Sandy) Kooser of Hiawatha, Kansas and David (Melanie) Kooser of Horton, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends from 9:30 A.M. until service time at the church. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka, Kansas.
