Isaac " Ike" Chase

Isaac M. “Ike” Chase, 79, of Severance, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, at his home.

Ike, as he was known by family and friends, was born at Rushville, MO, May 1, 1942, the oldest of two children of the late Isaac “Jake” and Octavia “Jean” Burdette Chase and has lived in Doniphan County a lot of his life.  The family moved to the Doniphan County area where he grew up, attended Severance grade school prior to graduating from Midway High School with the class of 1960.

After high school, he enlisted with the U.S. Army where he served a tour before being discharged.  Ike returned to Doniphan County area and did odd jobs including driving a truck a few years before moving to Brownsville, TX, where he opened an auto body and paint repair business which he operated for over 20 years.  He returned to Severance in 1993 to help care for his elderly mother and even did some auto body repair/paint repair for folks here.

Ike served the Severance community by volunteering for the Fire Department where he served as chief for a time.

Survivors include his children Barbara Johnston of McAllen, TX, Christina Chase-Roy and Robert Chase, both of Brownsville, Cindy Wright of Missouri, a sister Delilah Chase of Severance, and a number of grandchildren.

It was his wish to be cremated and buried at Oak Hill Cemetery, Severance.
