Norma May Macomber, 85, of Atchison KS died on Friday, August 6, 2021 in Vintage Park, Atchison, KS.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, Aug. 12th, 2021 at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Cyd Stein officiating. Private family internment will be at a later date in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Atchison.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, Aug. 11th, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison United Methodist Church, Atchison Library, or Theatre Atchison and may be sent in care of the funeral home.  Condolences and remembrances may be left online at www.beckerdyer.com

Norma was born on Oct. 13, 1935, in Valley Falls, KS the daughter of George and Avanell (May) Reppert. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1953 and attended a business school in St. Joseph, MO. She was married to James E. Macomber on Jan. 31, 1954.  Jim and Norma together started the Macomber Meat Processing Plant in Winchester, KS in 1956 and served the Winchester community and surrounding area for over 40 years.  They also owned and operated a meat processing plant in Overbrook, KS for a number of years.

Norma was an active member of the Atchison United Methodist Church, serving as a member of the United Methodist Women, sang in the church choir, was active in the service team and Loafs and Fishes, was a member of PEO, and had been active in the Kansas State Meat Processors Association and the National Meat Processors Association.  She was a 4-H Leader and helped with judging art and teaching international foods. Norma was an artist painting with oil and watercolor. She was a member of the Atchison Art Association and enjoyed playing bridge with friends.

Her husband James E. Macomber preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2010.  Her parents, and a son Michael J. Macomber also preceded her in death. 

Survivors include three daughters; Lynn Edmonds-Mitchell, Kansas City, KS, Jane (Mike) Lamberson, Topeka, KS, and Julie (Kevin) Adams, Oskaloosa, KS, two sisters; Sue Reichle , Atchison and Janice Stone, Osage Beach, MO, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
