Violet May Dotson

Violet May Dotson, 88, of Humboldt, Nebraska, passed away into the arms of our loving Savior and God on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at the Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, Nebraska surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on July 8, 1933, in Vermillion, Kansas to Lester and Myrtle Mae (Marvin) Bestwick. 

She married Delbert L. Rose and to this union seven children were born, Sandra, Vicky, Linda, Larry, Pam, Jeff and Kim.  Violet later married Robert Dotson on April 1, 1977.

Violet had a career as a homemaker and managed and owned several restaurants in the surrounding areas, including the Log Cabin in Seneca, KS, The Bar in Home City, KS, The Camp in Humboldt, One Stop Cafe in Falls City and Vi's Cafe in Centralia, KS. She was well known for her excellent cooking skills and making sure no one went hungry.  Violet and Robert retired in Vermillion, KS where she spent endless hours canning fruits and vegetables.  

She is survived by her children, Sandra Penn of Topeka, KS, Vicky Lynch of Humboldt, Linda Rose of Providence, KY, Jeff Rose of Council Bluffs, IA and Kim Rose of Crete, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, brother, Roy Bestwick of Jonesboro, GA and a large extended family and an abundance of friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her parents, children, Larry Rose and Pam Gouty, husbands, Delbert Rose and Robert Dotson, grandchildren, Alex Rose, Dakota Dettmann and Tyra Rose and great-granddaughter, Alicia Westbrook.  

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021 at the Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.
