Kenneth Neil Glassel, 85, of Valley Falls, KS, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at University of Kansas Hospital St. Francis Campus in Topeka. He was born June 22, 1936 in Valley Falls, KS, the son of Orville Otis and Ilene “Blanche” (Coleman) Glassel.

 Kenneth graduated from Valley Falls High School in 1954. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves for many years. He worked for Mercer Chevrolet in Valley Falls as a bookkeeper, and Clark Chevrolet in Holton for the Parts Department. He also worked for Sunflower Ammunition Plant in Eudora, KS. Kenneth retired from Goodyear after 30 years of service. His favorite pastime for more than 50 years was spending time on his farm raising cattle.

 He was a member of the St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Kenneth married Darlene Huerter on July 7, 1959 in Wetmore, KS. They celebrated over 62 years of marriage.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Darlene, of the home; a son, Kevin Glassel (Laurie); 2 daughters, Rhonda Kearney (Rob) and Janell Watson (Rodney) all of Valley Falls; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Blanche; a sister, Myra Pemberton; 4 brothers, Robert, Virgil, Lowell, and infant baby brother Glassel, and a son, Brad Glassel (1985).

 Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Valley Falls, KS. Burial will follow to St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 P.M. Monday, November 15, 2021 at the St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Valley Falls, KS. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7:30 P.M.
