Donald Martin
Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton
Muscotah, KS

Donald LeRoy Martin, 79, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at his home in Muscotah, Kansas.

He was born on August 24, 1942 at the Atchison Hospital in Atchison, Kansas the son of John and Inger Rupert Martin. Don attended grade school in a one room classroom building southwest of Atchison, Kansas. He then attended high school in Effingham, Kansas. He was drafted into the U.S. Army at the age of 22. Don served in the Vietnam War for a year. He was a medical corpsman, winning the commendation medal and V-device for heroism with the 9th Division. After his military experience he began working as a printing press operator and worked 36 years with the State Of Kansas before retiring. Don resided in Muscotah, Kansas from 1977 until his passing.

Don hunted for many years, eventually settling for fishing. He enjoyed quarter backing from his recliner, rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs and K-State Wildcats.

Don is survived by his wife, Tari Martin of the home; two sons, Jim Martin and Tyce Martin; several brothers, sisters, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sister, Virginia, Margaret and Lucille and a brother, Big Jay.

Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Horton City Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Memorial may be made to the Muscotah United Church or St. Jude's Hospital and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
