Matthew Thomas Coots, age 10, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Children Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born on December 3, 2011 in Hiawatha, Kansas the son of Courtney (Coots) Gaddis.

He was in the 3rd grade at Horton Elementary School. In 2019, Matthew got granted a make-a-wish and traveled to Disney World where he got to see Mickey mouse and everyone else. He was a very special boy who lit up any room he entered with just his smile and personality. If there ever was a definition of perfect, that would be him. He loved the color yellow, Lion King, looking outside and loved being a big brother.

Survivors include his mother, Courtney (Coots) Gaddis and step father, Justin Gaddis of Horton, Kansas; three brothers, Nicholas Hewitt, Ronald Widman, Maverick Widman all of Horton, Kansas; grandfather, David Coots of Horton, Kansas; grandmother, Amelia Montano of Wichita, Kansas and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great grandparents,, Thomas and Carole Coots.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Burial will follow at the Horton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Matthew Coots memorial fund to be designated later and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
