Joseph Garrett Kerns, formerly of Horton, passed away Saturday, December 18 at 31 years of age after a long and courageous battle with a difficult illness. He was dedicated to helping others in difficult situations without judgement or concern for personal wealth, possessions or recognition.

Joe was greatly loved by his family and friends who remember him for his kind heart, sense of humor, intellect and his unfaltering dedication.

Joseph worked in both restaurant management and information technology fields.

Survived by daughter Leah Paden Hill, age 7; mom, Helen Jo Paden; brother Bo Kerns. "loving dad" Wayne Schleicher, dedicated step dad Dennis Bindner, grandmother Judy Paden

He was preceded in death by grandfather Doyle “LeRoy” Paden of Horton Kansas.
