Edwina “Winnie” Pollock

Edwina “Winnie” Pollock, 96, of Holton, KS, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was born August 25, 1925 in Soldier, the daughter of W.H. “Major” and Ella M. (Forrest-Cook) Capsey.

Winnie graduated from Soldier High School in 1943. She worked along side her husband, Wayne, on the family farm.

She attended Bucks Grove Church.

Winnie married Wayne D. Pollock on February 15, 1947 in Olatha, KS; they celebrated over 62 years of marriage before his passing on December 10, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Edwin Pollock; great-grandson, Christopher Strahle; 6 sisters, Nora Helen Allen-Monroe, Maurine McCorkle, Mary Sourk, Lela Kroh, Betty Rieschick and Georgena Miller and a brother, Kenneth Capsey.

Survivors include her son, Dan Pollock (Carol) of Havensville, KS; daughter, Janet Trainor (David) of Santa Fe, MO; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Pesselato of Kansas City, MO; 7 grandchildren, Dana Kemp (Ian), Carrie Baxter (Matt), Sara Philipi (Danny), Wendy Milner (Rick), Pat McManamey (Chris), Dustin Pollock (Rachel) and Sean Pollock (Leah); 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Olive Hill Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Olive Hill Cemetery or to the Soldier Hall c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
