Wayne Alan Pumel

Wayne Alan Pumel, 64, of rural Dawson, Nebraska was born on April 18, 1957 in Auburn, Nebraska to Glenn and Ellen (Hickey) Pumel.  He received his schooling from Norris public schools.  On March 31, 1984, Wayne was united in marriage to Becky Jo Gates in Denton, Nebraska.  To this union two children, Wayne Lee and Grace Rose Louise, were born.  The couple raised their children in various communities across southeast Nebraska before settling in Dawson.  Wayne was a loving family man who spent many hours at his children’s school activities.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.

Wayne passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at his home in Dawson, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of sixty-four years, seven months and twenty-eight days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Barb Pumel, brother Raymond Pumel, sisters Robin (Pumel) Schuster and Donna Pumel, sister-in-law Denise Peterson and brothers-in-law George Ellis and Dennis Berg.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife Becky Pumel of rural Dawson, NE; son Wayne Lee Pumel of Beatrice, NE; daughter Grace Pumel and fiancé Dalton Rohrs of DuBois, NE; sisters: Debbie Saunders of Nemaha, NE; Judy Ellis of Tecumseh, NE; Sandy Touchstone of Tecumseh, NE; Marjorie Berg of Tecumseh, NE; brothers: Richard Pumel and wife Sunnam of Lincoln, NE; Dwight Pumel and wife Lisa of Columbia, MO; uncles: Butch Hickey of Stella, NE; Bob Hickey of Nemaha, NE; an aunt Mayme Shoemaker of Maynard, AR; brothers-in-law: Mike Gates of Cortland, NE; Scott Hoss and wife Brenda of Waverly, NE; sister-in-law Rita Pumel of Princeton, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Wayne’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at the Christian Church in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.

A register book will be available from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
