Leslie B. Domann,

Leslie B. Domann, 88, Winchester, KS, passed away on Feb. 1, 2022 at V.A. Hospital, Leavenworth, KS.  He was born March 24, 1933, son of Ben & Genevieve (Cunningham) Domann.  Les grew up in the Mooney Creek area, south of Atchison, KS, and graduated from Maur Hill Prep for high school in Atchison, 1951.  Les served in the U.S. Army 1953-1955.

Les participated in professional baseball tryouts for the Kansas City A’s (Royals), and St. Louis Cardinals as a pitcher.  

Leslie and Alice A. Domann were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Potter, KS, February 5, 1959. They resided in the Mooney Creek area and were married 29 years.  Their children include Christopher (Beverly) Domann, Nortonville, KS; Craig (Teddi) Domann, Colorado Springs, CO; Sheila (James) Bishop, Radford, VA; and Angela (Scott) Bolduc of Olathe, KS. Grandchildren include grandsons; Kyle, Brandon, JoJo and Brock Domann and Jake Robohn, and granddaughters; Maggie (Robohn) Luckert, Megan (Domann) Mangrum, Rylee Domann and Emily Bolduc.  Family also includes step granddaughters Rachel (Bishop) Altizer and Grayce (Bishop) Woodrum, both of Christiansburg, VA.  Les has one great-granddaughter, Charlotte Luckert, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Les was active in the community, serving with Corpus Christi Catholic Church’s Knights of Columbus and Jefferson County Farm Bureau.  Les farmed with his father Ben, and brothers Charles and Robert.  He was a previous co-owner of West Lanes Bowl in Atchison and enjoyed bowling.  After farming, he was employed by Jefferson County Health Dept. for ten years.  
Les was known as an avid sports fan, especially for the KU Jayhawks, KC Royals and KC Chiefs.  He passionately followed his family’s school and sports activities and most recently cheered for grandsons playing football for Nebraska and Louisville.

Les was preceded in death by his parents Ben & Genevieve, brothers Charles, Donald & Robert Domann, and sisters Maxine Allen & infant Marie Merrill, brother-in-law Paul Allen, and sister-in-law Joan Domann. 
The family is very appreciative of care provided by V.A. Hospital, Prestige Home Care, F.W. Huston Medical Center, local Home Health agencies and many special care givers.  

Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Mooney Creek, located south of Atchison.  The visitation will begin at 9:30 am, rosary 10:30 am, Mass of Christian burial at 11 am and interment will follow at Corpus Christi Catholic Church cemetery.  Lunch will be served by the Corpus Christi Altar Society at the Nortonville Knights of Columbus Hall.  In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial contributions to the Corpus Christi Catholic Church or the Church Building fund; and may be sent in care of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home,208 N. 5th St., Atchison, KS 66002.
