Joseph Gordon Middleton, 82, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 after a short stay at the Mission Village Living Center in Horton, Kansas.

He was born on October 5, 1939 in Belton, Missouri the son of Joseph G. and Frances May Lewis Middleton Sr. After his service in the U.S. Air Force he began his career in law in enforcement. He worked for various police departments including the Overland Park Police Department, Humbolt, Iowa Police Department, Chief of Police at the Horton Police Department, Chief of the Kickapoo Police Department and the Washburn University Police Department. He then worked for the security department at the Sac-N-Fox Casino before he retired. Joe enjoyed remodeling houses and spending his spare time with his family. He married the love of his life, Judith E. Piper on January 16, 1958 in Horton, Kansas. She just recently preceded him in death on January 13, 2022.

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna (Kelly) Middleton-Frock of Humbolt, Iowa; three sons, Joseph (Leta) Middleton III of Horton, Kansas, David (Janet) Middleton of Horton, Kansas and Daniel Middleton of Sioux City, Iowa; twenty three grandchildren and thirty eight great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Private family services will be held.
