Lawrence " Larry" Dalinghaus

Lawrence F. “Larry” Dalinghaus, 78, of Seneca, died on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at Life Care Center in Seneca.

Larry was born on September 6, 1943 in Axtell, Kansas, the son of Aloysius H. and Helene Kohake Dalinghaus. He attended school at B & B Grade School and graduated High School with the Class of 1961. During his high school years, he helped on the family farm and shortly after his graduation, he started farming on his own south of Baileyville.

On November 21, 1964 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Koch at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Baileyville. The couple later were divorced.  On February 25, 1995, he married Deanna “Kay” Roderick in Topeka; the couple celebrated seven years of marriage before her death.  

In 1986, he moved to Topeka and was employed by Meier’s Ready Mix and Singer Excavation Corporation as a heavy equipment operator. After he retired due to declining health, he moved to Seneca to be near his children.

He was a faithful member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local 101 in Topeka.

Larry was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey on December 24, 1997; a daughter, Jackie Kroemer on January 11, 2017; parents, Aloysius on July 6, 1960 and Helene on November 19, 2013; his brother, Richard Dalinghaus on November 13, 2010; and his wife, Kay on August 8, 2002.

Larry is survived by his children, Julie (Lynn) Kohake of Seneca and Jason (Lacey) Dalinghaus of Seneca; siblings, Rita (John) Gahagan of Benton, KS, Eugene (Marietta) Dalinghaus of Baileyville and Joan (Gary) Wadley of Topeka; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM, on Friday, February 18th  at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Funeral services will be on February 19, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery next to his children, Jeffrey and Jackie. The dress is casual!
