Susan Mencl

Susan K. Mencl, 78, of Holton, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born February 5, 1944 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Bernard and Edna Anderson Woodall.  She graduated from Wetmore High School in 1962.

Susan was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holton.  She loved the Holton community and was active with various organizations, her church, and the Chamber of Commerce.

Susan had worked at the Holton USD 336 Superintendent’s Office, Anderson Construction, and the Denison State Bank.  In 1984 she opened The Store, which later became the E.Z. Shop.  She also managed Fast Trax for twenty-seven years and helped at BNB accounting during tax season.

She married Robert L. McDaniel in May of 1961.  They were divorced.  She married Jerry L. Mencl in June of 1993.  He survives, of the home.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Dennis McDaniel and her sister, Linda Ireland.

Other survivors include a daughter, Pam Hossfeld (Perry), Charleston, South Carolina; a son, Jeff McDaniel (Kathy), Tecumseh; a step-daughter, Danie (Mencl) Pardee; a step-son, Ryan Mencl; eight grandchildren, Jake Hossfeld (Kristina), Garret Hossfeld (Allison), Austin Hossfeld, Jimmy Black (Kylee), Austin Black (Lacey), Gavin Pardee, Kaeda Pardee and Brynn Pardee, and seven great grandchildren, Lily Hossfeld, Drake Black, Dakota Black, Jaci Black, Karson Black, Parks Black and Raven Black.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 26th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.  Family and friends will meet from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Holton Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the New Hope Food Pantry, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
