Lucy Gist, 101, of Falls City, NE, passed away February 22, 2022 at Falls City. She was born June 15, 1920 at Falls City to Glenn D. and Virge M. (Close) Martin.

She was united in marriage to Thomas F. Gist on July 19, 1943 at Montgomery, AL. He passed away July 28, 1962.

Lucy was raised at Falls City and graduated Falls City High School in 1938. She then attended Miss Huff’s School of Commerce in Kansas City. She then returned to Falls City and worked for her father. When married the couple made their home in various places due to Mr. Gist’s military service. They returned to Falls City where she became a homemaker. She enjoyed serving on many of the community boards and clubs in Falls City, she was especially proud of her long-time service to the Steele Cemetery Board. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Lucy is survived by her sons, Thomas J. “Joe” Gist of Rulo, NE and his special friend Hope Schawang and Martin R. “Dick” Gist and his wife Mary Jane of Falls City, grandson, Thomas R. Gist and his wife Emily of Falls City and their children, Beckett and Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Virgil D. Martin.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Steele Cemetery with her nephew, Pastor Rick Martin officiating.
