Shirley R. (Dick) Hasenkamp, age 84, of Seneca, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital, Seneca.

Shirley was born November 4, 1937, on a farm southwest of Baileyville, Kansas to Frank J. and Martha (Walk) Dick.  She attended the Sacred Heart Grade School and graduated in 1955 from the Baileyville High School.  From June 1955 until July 1956, she was employed as a secretary for the Young Construction Company in Kansas City, Missouri.  In July 1956, she changed employment to Hallmark Cards in Kansas City and worked as a secretary in the sales department until her marriage.

On August 19, 1957, she was united in marriage to Glenn L. Hasenkamp at Sacred Heart Church, Baileyville, Kansas.  For 37 years, they lived on the farm southwest of Baileyville where she was born and raised and which they had purchased from her parents.  In 1994, they retired and moved into Seneca.  Their son and his family moved onto the family farm which was homesteaded in 1915 by Shirley’s grandfather, John Dick.  In August 2021, Glenn and Shirley celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Glenn passed away December 8, 2021.

Shirley was a homemaker and she helped with their dairy operation for 25 years.  She enjoyed reading, sewing, and raising a large garden for her family. She also enjoyed attending the many events and activities of her grandchildren and putting together several scrapbooks of her family and their activities.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and Altar Society and a former member of the Sacred Heart Church and Altar Society of Baileyville.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by his parents, Frank (1976) and Martha (1991); five brothers, Kenneth (2003), Francis (1998), Dennis (2005), Marvin (1979), Lebert (2004); six sisters, Vera Rodriguez (2002), Lela Hasenkamp (2012), Sr. Mary Luella Dick (1990), Coletta Dick (1925), Eileen Olberding (2015), Maxine Haverkamp (2022), and her daughter-in-law, Penny Hasenkamp (2021).

Survivors include her seven children: Denise (Greg) Deters of Centralia, Donna (Alan) Hammes of Seneca, Doris (David J.) Ronnebaum of Seneca, Deann (Dale) Sudbeck of Seneca, Glen Lee Hasenkamp of Baileyville, Dalene (Ted) Rilinger of Auburn, Kansas and Gerard (Shelly) Hasenkamp of Baileyville; 19 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Nelson, Overland Park, Kansas.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2022, prior to the Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. The burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Baileyville.
