Verlene A. McNally, 83, of Onaga, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.

She was born January 12, 1939 in the family home at Blaine, the daughter of Urban and Cecelia Roggenkamp O’Keeffe.  She graduated from Wheaton High School in 1957.

Verlene was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga, and for many years had made the banners at church for the different liturgical seasons.  She had also been a Cub Scout Leader and had served on the Election Board.

She was a homemaker, and had worked at Marje’s Flower Shop and the Onaga Library.

She married Donald T. McNally on June 22, 1957 at Wheaton.  He preceded her in death on February 19, 2002.

Verlene was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Michael McNally, a grandson, Mitchell Hermreck, a son-in-law, Dennis Hermreck, and two brothers, Jack O’Keefe and Bud O’Keefe.

Survivors include five sons, D. Thomas McNally, Jr. (Natalie), Flagstaff, AZ, Chuck McNally (Terri), Morrill, Patrick McNally (Cathy), Shawnee, Robert McNally (Trisha), Corning and Bill McNally (Pam), Manhattan; two daughters, Ann Hermreck, Onaga and Erin Henry (Chris), Seneca; one brother, Steve O’Keeffe, Topeka; three sisters, Julia Conaway, Topeka, and Marsha Bergman and Pam Kufahl, both of Onaga; nineteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 6th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Onaga.  Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery in the Coal Creek Community.  Verlene will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.  She will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. at the church where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m.  Memorials are suggested to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church or the Coal Creek Cemetery, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
