Melvena Mae Vandervort Ingels, 91, of Netawaka, KS, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at The Pines in Holton, KS. She was born April 18, 1931 in Holton, KS, the daughter of Melvin and Hazel Mae (Wilson) Young.

          Melvena attended Lonestar Country School and graduated from Holton High School in 1949.

          She worked for Adkins Insurance Agency, formerly Singer Insurance Agency and Crow & Gilliland Insurance. Melvena retired after 50 ½ years.

          She enjoyed her family, square dancing and her cats and dogs.

          Melvena married Wilbur Leon Vandervort on May 16, 1952; he preceded her in death on July 30, 1971. She married Marvin Albert Ingels on June 30, 1973 in Holton; he preceded her in death on February 2, 2015.

          Survivors include 2 brothers, Carroll Young of Santa Fe, NM and Leonard Young of Topeka, KS and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

          Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery.
